| Where are the sub-stations located and what kinds of service can I receive there? |
The Sanford Police Department has four sub-stations located throughout the City.
Our central sub-station is located at 1211 West 13th Street. The 13th Street sub-station operates Monday thru Friday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., citizens can obtain basic information about the Police Department and file simple police reports. Our other three sub-stations are located at 1st Street, Seminole Town Center Mall and in the Wal-Mart Shopping Center on Orlando Drive. Hours of operation at these sub-stations vary. |
| How do I obtain a copy of a police or accident report? | Copies of police and accident reports are available in the Records Unit at the Police Department. Requests can be made by mail or in person at the Police Department. Please contact Records at 407.323.3030 or 815 French Avenue, Sanford, FL 32771. |
| How can I contact the officer who took my report? | Officers can be contacted by calling either Sanford Police Department Dispatch at 407.322.4141 or call the business line 407.323.3030 and leave a message with Administration. |

| Is the K-9 officer and dog available for demonstrations? | Yes, the Police Department does K-9 demonstrations for schools and other organizations. To request for K-9 demonstrations contact Special Operations Lieutenant Darren Scott or Sergeant Ned Golden at 407.323.3030. |
| Our neighborhood wants to hold a block party, do we need permission? | Yes, block parties usually involve road closure(s), amplified sound, crowd and traffic control. Approval of this event will involve Leisure Services 407.330.5697 and the Police Department 407.323.3030. |
| We are going on vacation. Can the police check on our house while we are gone? | Yes. The SPD House Check Request Form can be obtained from the Police Department's Information Desk 407.323.3030. Click here for House Check Request Form. |
| I have a new alarm system do I need to register with the police department? Are there any fees? | No, you do not register the alarm system with the Police Department. The only fee that will be applicable is if there is a false alarm more than 3 times in a 30-day period. The fourth false alarm in a 30-day period will cost $250.00 and each false alarm after the fourth false alarm in a 30-day period could cost $500.00 each. |

| What can we do about speeding on our street? | Contact the Sanford Police Department traffic supervisor, Sergeant Ray Irvin at IrvinR@sanfordfl.gov or 407.302.5268 with your concern. Every week the traffic unit rotates throughout the city enforcing the concerns and problem areas identified by our citizens. |
| Can the police help if I lock my keys in the car? | Officers can assist by helping you contact family members, friend or locksmith of your choice. Officers are not authorized to physically assist or gain entry to a locked vehicle unless there is an immediate threat or danger. |
| What should I do if I'm in a traffic accident? | Remove your vehicles from obstructing traffic; this is required by law. Call 911 and give all the information to the dispatcher. If witnesses are around try to get them to remain until police arrive. |
| What can the police do about illegally parked vehicles in the neighborhood? | Contact the Sanford Police Department non-emergency line at 407.322.4141 |

| What are the rules concerning Window Tinting and Neon Lighting? |
Window Tinting: The driver’s side and passenger’s side front windows must be at 28%
visibility or higher. Rear windows must be 15% visibility or higher.
(As defined in F.S.S. 316.2953 and 316.5954)
Neon lighting is illegal as it obstructs normal traffic view. (As defined in F.S.S. 316.241) |

| Does the City of Sanford have noise ordinance? | Yes, City Ordinance #3350 explains the maximum noise level, which may be generated in a residential or commercial area. A copy of the ordinance can be obtained from the City Clerk’s Office 407.330.5603. Click here for Noise Ordinance 3350. |
| What can the police do about noisy neighbors and barking dogs? | Officers responding to a noise disturbance will issue a verbal warning; if a violator does not comply with the officer’s request, the officer may issue a citation for violation of the city ordinance. |

| Do I have to wear a bicycle helmet? | All children under 16 must wear a helmet while riding a bicycle (As defined in F.S.S. 316.02652(d)). Nighttime travel on bicycles requires front and rear lights per City Ordinance. |
| Can I ride my bike on the road and the sidewalk? | Bicycle riding should take place on roadways in flow with traffic and not on sidewalks. |
| What rules are there for Motorized Scooters and Go Carts? | Motorized Scooters and Go Carts should be treated the same as any other motorized vehicle. |
| What are the rules for safety belts and car seats? |
The front left and front right occupants of a motorized vehicle must wear
their seatbelt (As defined in F.S.S. 316.614).
All children through age 5 must use a crash tested federally approved child restraint device. Children through age 3 must be in a separate carrier or vehicle manufactured intergraded child seat (As defined in F.S.S. 316.613). |

| Does the Police Department offer fingerprinting? | Fingerprinting is available at the Sanford Police Department Lobby on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Payment of $5.30 for service is accepted in cash, money order or cashier check. Fingerprints for juvenile identification cards are free of charge. |
| Does the Police Department offer Background Checks? | The Sanford Police Department will conduct background checks for local records only (Sanford Police Department records only). The Department, for a fee, will fingerprint citizens, but it is the responsibility of the employing business to mail the finger print cards off to FDLE or the FBI. We do not get involved in any background checks other than for future employees of the Police Department. |
| Does the Police Department offer Safety Seat Checks? |
The Sanford Fire Department is inspecting car seats on the
3rd Monday of every month between the hours of 5-7 pm at the following location:

| Does the Police Department offer special services to business owners? (Ex. escort for bank deposit) | Provided time permitted, we do assist in escorts to the bank when requested. Sometimes the business may need to wait a short period of time before an officer is available. If a business has questions about other services needed, they can contact the Department to see if it is available. |
| "Who should I contact to find out if there is an outstanding warrant for my arrest?" | Call the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office at 407.665.6650. |
| Does the Police Department buy back weapons? | The Sanford Police Department does not participate in weapon buy back. |
| How do I hire an off duty officer to provide security for a private function? | Anyone needing an off-duty officer can contact the Off-duty/Extra-duty Coordinator, Sgt. Taylor, who can answer any questions and will arrange for an officer to work the detail. At this time the cost for officers is $25.00 per hour with a four-hour minimum. Sgt.
